We have been alerted to a hardware issue with the jabber server and are actively working to restore service. This is old hardware and sadly the hard drive replacement was only a temporary fix. Updates will be posted here.
Update: We were able to bring the old server back up while we migrate data. Please excuse any instability during this time.
We are aware of server instability in the past few weeks and have asked for additional assistance from some friends. Please have patience while we get to the root cause of the issue.
UPDATE: We’ve identified the issue as a problem with the MySQL backend data store.
UPDATE: We have a temporary fix in place, if you get a message that your credentials are not correct please just wait and retry. Your password is correct the server is just busy recovering from a restart.
UPDATE: The migration is complete and the server is operational. Please message the admins in the support MUC: support@conference.jabber.de or directly with issues.
We identified a problem with the server’s hard drive that was causing connectivity issues. We will work on replacing the hardware in the coming week.

Wie von devilz angekündigt, haben wir das Projekt jabber.de übernommen. Wir sind Internet-Enthusiasten, die Spaß an Technik & dem Internet haben und – weil wir selbst begeisterte XMPP-User sind – Euch gerne die Möglichkeit geben wollen, Jabber kostenfrei und nach Eurem Gusto zu verwenden.
Die Übernahme war mit einigen dringend notwendigen technischen Updates und einem Umzug auf leistungsfähigere Infrastruktur verbunden – in deren Zuge es uns leider nicht möglich war, den bisherigen Content der Webseite jabber.de zu übernehmen und weiterzuführen. Aufwand und Nutzen standen hier für uns in keinem vernünftigen Verhältnis. Insofern bedeutet das für die Webseite von http://www.jabber.de einen Neustart.

As devilz announced a few weeks ago we have taken over the jabber.de project. We are Internet-enthusiasts, love the Internet and are excited XMPP-users ourselves. That’s why we want to enable all of you to make use of the possibilities of XMPP – for free and just exactly how you need it.
When we took the project over we had to perform some desperately needed technical updates & upgrades – which included moving the service to a more up-to-date and better performing hardware. While we did that we were not able to migrate the old content from an outdated webserver installation – which in the end means a fresh restart for http://www.jabber.de.
